Kopaonik — Serbia largest ski centre

Kopaonik is Serbia's largest mountain massif in central Serbia, with the highest peak Pančićev Vrh (2017 m). One of the most popular ski centres in the Balkans — 60 km of slopes, 25 cable cars and lifts, modern hotels. Season: December–April.

⛷️ Ski centre

  • Slopes: 60 km of marked slopes of various levels. Main zones: Sunny Valley (blue — beginners), Small Lake (red — intermediate), Karaman Ridge (black — advanced). Night skiing: 5 km of illuminated slopes.
  • Ski pass: 1 day 4500 dinars (~38 EUR), 6 days 22,000 dinars. Kids under 12 — 50% off.
  • Lifts: Prvo Polje Gondola (2017 m), 8 cable cars, 25 lifts. Capacity 32,000 persons/hour.
  • Ski school: Ski School Kopaonik, private instructor 4000 dinars/hour.
  • Ski rental: Skipas Sport, Pirsl — around 2500 dinars/day.

🌃 Après-ski

Main après-ski zone: Konaci. Bars, restaurants, music from 16:00. White Bar (main), Beer House (traditional), Sky Bar (at the top, view).

  • Grand Hotel Kopaonik (4*) — largest, centre, spa.
  • JAT Apartments — apartments.
  • Hotel Putnik (3*) — good value for money.
  • Pansion Beli Bor — in the village, traditional.

🌅 Summer season

Summer: trekking (Pančićev Vrh, „Meteor"), cycling, animal watching (bears, wolves). Mineral springs (Jošanička Banja).

🚗 How to get there

From Belgrade — 280 km, 4 hours by car. From Niš — 100 km, 2 hours. Direct buses from Belgrade (Lasta) in winter season (5 hours).

💡 Practical

  • Arrival time: Saturday afternoon (reservations are weekly).
  • What to pack: ski equipment, cold clothing (-15°C at night possible), sunscreen.
  • Alternative: Stara Planina (Babin Zub) — small, quieter, closer to Niš.
